Notes:

Young fruitbody with soft pale cap.

Stipe: red, with red net at apex, fusiform-clavate.

Pore surface yellow with rusty red tinges on pore surface when magnified. Flesh: pale yellow turning pale blue on cutting, especially over gills, and with pinkish tinges in stipe base.

Old fruitbody: large bolete with pale cap with pinkish tones, purplish-red clavate stipe with red network at apex. Cap not bruising blue.

Flesh colours on cutting - cap: pale pinkish brown, deep blue over pores; stipe: deep blue in base and apex, deep purplish red at extreme base.

Smell: old mushrooms, even in the young fruitbody.

Spore print: BFF: Snuff Brown
