Notes:

Cap: firm; 50-60mm diam, convex, depressed with inrolled margin; sticky when wet; smooth; weakly concentrically zoned in various shades of dingy orange from changes of density of a sparse layer of innate tangled orange hyphae; extreme centre pale, flat, "saffron" tomentose, (maybe where it remained moist); mid-radius brownish "saffron",weakly zoned; outer part pale "saffron", very weakly zoned; margin long remaining incurved, pruinose, pale (BFF:B), but still distinctly and regularly concentrically zoned. The zonation fades as the cap dries.

Cap flesh: almost white.

Stipe: solid; hard; white, streaking "sienna" and ageing pale "fulvous", sometimes with pale "vinaceous" ring at apex; c. 18mm diam; shortly rooting or with several short roots.

Stipe flesh almost white, cortex in TS at top becoming pale "livid vinaceous" or "vinaceous" by the following day.

Gills: very crowded; thin; narrow; a few forking near stipe; BFF:D.

Milk: white, unchanging, taste: slowly hot.

Flesh: white, unchanging, taste: slowly hot.

Smell: none.

Spore print: Kibby: D or pinkish BFF:"D"

Spores: 7-8/6µm, with raised amyloid network of rounded ridges up to 0.5µm high, often parallel and almost fully joined up, with a few smaller ridges attached at one end and isolated small warts. Plage not noticeable. The ornamentation is markedly less crowded than shown by Heilmann-Clausen et al or Kränzlin.

Cap cuticle: filamentous, thin-walled, almost hyaline hyphae.
