Notes:

Tiny larvae in shallow water in the bottom of a white plastic tray where electric toothbrushes are stored. Presumably feeding on the bacterial film on the surface of the plastic, which in turn is feeding on the spit and toothpaste that’s run down the toothbrush handles (I know, we should clean it out more frequently!).

Tried to rear them but they were all dead 24hrs after being transferred to a petri dish, and the bacterial film/toothpaste residues had coalesced into white granules. Perhaps the restricted air supply from the petri dish lid had caused a build-up of CO2.
