Notes:

Displaying on fermenting sap run on birch stumps cut one month ago.

Upper side generally dark in life, and in alcohol; the abdomen paler than the thorax, towards the tip often quite brightly red tinged beneath; eyes black in life, red in alcohol.

2 males in alcohol:

CB: 8 rows of acrostichals, tarsal combs: 8 & 7, maxillary palp: 1 terminal bristle with a shorter subterminal one

CC: 8 rows of acrostichals, tarsal combs: 9 & 8, maxillary palp: 1 terminal bristle, clasper comb: 8 teeth, continued with bristles.
