Rigidoporus sanguinolentus (Alb. & Schwein.) Donk (Bleeding Porecrust)

Date 17 November 2017
OS grid ref SZ19
Lat/Lon 50° 50' N, 1° 50' W
Location Vice County: South Hants, VC11, England
Stage or state Fruitbody
Record Summary old orange-stained fruitbodies on charred, fallen pine branch
Associated organism: on charred, fallen branch of Pinus
Identification Notes: The branch had been turned over some time previously, so the fruitbodies had all dried and turned orange. There were fresh white brackets on nearby fallen pine branches which bruised orange.

It was at first thought to be Pycnoporus sanguineus, but parts of the fruitbody were white which is never the case in that species.
