Notes:

Causes brown leaf-spots with broad, deep purple margins and dead centres. The dead centre eventually fades to pale brown and becomes crowded with black epiphyllous pycnidia. Underside similar but purple border narrower and paler.

Dead spot sometimes grown over with a dematiaceous hyphomycete.

Conidia:8-10/2.5µm, hyaline, fusiform, often wth vacuoles in lactophenol.

Growing with leaf-spots of the gall-midge Dasineura fraxinea, which can look similar.
