Notes:

Algal bloom at margins of lake, especially on leeward side, forming up to a soupy layer (pea soup!) towards shore.

On close examination, visible as small separate pale green round to squarish flocci. Smells of beetroot.

Hollow balls of ellipsoid cells, 2.5-3/5µm, dividing perpendicular to the surface of the colony, with visible mucilage outside the cells.
