Further Information

Notes (MWS) The Oomycetes are commonly studied by mycologists, but are not true fungi, being more closely related to algae.
Diagnostic features Oomycetes can usually be readily distinguished from true fungi. In cases of doubt, under the microscope Oomycetes are mostly non-staining in Cotton Blue whereas true fungi generally stain strongly.
