Marshall, J.A. & Haes, E.C.M., 1988

Grasshoppers and allied Insects of Great Britain and Ireland

The dichotomous keys to families and species are followed by detailed species accounts with vice-county distribution maps. Dot maps up to mid-1988 are given towards the back. Finally there are 10 plates of excellent colour paintings of the species and their forms and varieties, although some of the pictures could be larger.

More uptodate than Ragge's work, the distribution maps are a snapshot in the phenomenal range expansions of many of our rarer coastal species during recent decades.
