TEPHRITIDAE (gall flies, greater fruit flies)
| Notes (MWS) |
Most of these small flies have well-marked (picture) wings. Some species are very common on their host plants in high summer.
Although the family is called "Gall Flies", only a minority of species have larvae which actually cause galls. The rest are internal feeders in fruits, stems or leaves. |
