Polyporus squamosus (Huds.) Fr., 1821 (Dryad’s Saddle)

Notes (MWS) Widespread and common (less so in the north) this large scaly bracket fungus appears during the summer, mainly on frondose trees. It can be a wound parasite, often fruiting on a branch scar, or a saprobe on dead or decayed wood.
