Quercus petraea (Mattuschka) Liebl. (Sessile Oak)

Date: 22 April 2007
Location: Surrey, England
State: Tree
Identification Notes: This broad-leafed form is close to Q. petraea, but the leaf bases being wedge-shaped (cuneate) on one side and lobed on the other indicate some introgression from Q robur.

Although this particular tree was by the roadside, there were many similar trees in the adjoining woodland.
