| Identification Notes: |
Large leaf spots, 50mm wide by 70mm long with centre eventually lost (possibly due to secondary infection) to form a large shot-hole with skeletonised centre.
Upper surface silver-grey and weakly zonate, with 1-2mm broad, smooth, dark purple margin, but cuticle soon splitting and peeling from the centre to reveal brown layer beneath. Black linear stromata arranged along midrib and primary veins and round or ellipsoid ones in a circle near edge of spot.
Under surface similar but browner.
Minute black perithecia in scattered groups, mainly below, especially near margin. Spores: cylindric (broader at apex), rounded at base, pointed at apex, 1-septate, 10/2.5µm. |
