Date: 28 June 2005
Location: Berks, England
Voucher: 28/06/2005[D]
(Please quote this in any queries about this record)
State: Pupa
Record Summary: Puparia and leaf mine on Phalaris/Phragmites
Identification Notes: Two puparia: black one on mine and a second blackish brown (parasitised) one on other side of leaf, 10cm towards leaf base.

Imago emerged by 11 July.

Halteres whitish, otherwise entire insect, including legs, knees, frons and antennae black.
Wing length: 3mm, costa extending to vein M1+2, but thinner than previous section.
Squamal fringe pale.
Mesonotum with microsculpture.
Jowls deep behind.

The costa extends to vein M1+2, not just to vein R4+5, but with reduced thickness, but the mine and host match A. rondensis so this seems the best fit.

A small parasitic wasp emerged from the parasitised puparium.
