This two volume work covers the imagines (adults) of our macrolepidoptera. Each species is illustrated with one or more colour paintings. Immature stages of some species are illustrated with half-tone pictures.
Unfortunately the quality of the plates is rather poor, being limited by the print technology of the day. Some earlier editions are said to have better plates.
