Oecophoridae to Scythrididae except Gelechiidae (vol 4(1))
This volume in this indispensable series covers the families Oecophoridae to Scythrididae, with the exception of Gelechiidae which is covered in Vol 4 (Part 2).
Each family includes a checklist, very clear line drawings of the genitalia of both sexes of each species, keys to imagines and detailed species accounts. These include descriptions of the life stages with host plant(s) or pabula, comments on similar species and a vice-county distribution map.
For Depressariinae, keys to larvae by food plant are given and larval mines of Mompha are illustrated. An index of host plants is given.
An introductory chapter covers: The Ecology and Evolution of Lepidopteran Defences against Bats (J. Rydell & M.R. Young).
Richard Lewington's beautiful paintings are a feature of this work.
